It’s becoming very safe to say, that drafting Kristaps Porzingis will be Phil Jackson’s biggest accomplishment as President and GM of the New York Knicks. With Jackson trying his best to coach the Knicks from his Madison Square Garden suite, and not allowing the actual head coach, Jeff Hornacek, to do it, it’s been an embarrassing week in the Big Apple. That’s not to mention the controversial comments about Lebron James’ ‘Posse’ that has people wondering if Jackson is a racist.

One thing that’s not an embarrassment in New York right now is Kristaps Porzingis. The third-pick overall in the 2015 draft wasn’t a very good host to the Detroit Pistons last night, as he scored a career-high 35 points. But, it wasn’t just that he scored 35 points, it’s the way he scored them. Or, should I say the way(S). Feast your eyes on Kristaps Porzingis’ electrifying performance last night!

KP, had The Garden rocking last night, and has been a breath of fresh air despite the Knicks struggles. With his array of moves with the basketball, combined with his size, and overall court awareness, Porzingis will be extremely difficult for anyone to to stop. Even though Porzingis will likely never be the physical presence most think a player his size should be, he still attacks the rim and isn’t a bad rebounder. Despite his age (21) he’s quickly becoming one of the more versatile and dynamic players in the NBA.

But, the only way the Knicks will reap the benefits of having Porzingis is if Derrick Rose and company realize they need to play through him. And they need to play through him consistently. That’s the big IF. This is not Carmelo Anthony’s team any longer. It was never Derrick Rose’s team. And, although Phil Jackson is trying to run everything, it’s not his show either. This is now Kristaps Porzingis’ team. So, despite the embarrassment that has been Phil Jackson lately, there is light at the end of the tunnel. That light is Kristaps Porzingis.
